From truth values, and from values truth!

In a time where the light of truth has been lost, the only way to move forward is to remember your values and have faith through the darkness.

Canon of American Values

Positive
Americans are positive people that are looking to change the world for the better. The entire impetus for our experiment requires a mindset that will take on massive challenges. By asserting, “these truths are self-evident” the first Americans defied the current order of their day and established a new narrative out of a moral claim.

Prudent
“Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes.” Accusations and claims must be backed up by evidence.

Just
Americans are lead by rules of laws that affect everyone equally. There is no room for special circumstances and elite positions. Justice is universal, written, and decided not off the whim of a judge, but in a trial jurried by your peers.

Creative
Americans are innovative and creative people, it is not just enough to critique. We take critique as our starting point, then we synthesize a new path forward. A person who only espouses critique is not showing American ingenuity.

Idealistic
To be American is also to live in a legacy of ideals. Not a people group united by blood or locality, but a group of people self-selecting to assert American idealism.

Brave
We are a group of people who are not afraid to look at the status quo and strive to change it.

Moral
We do not accept all narratives as equal and we assert that narratives that prefer dominance, hierarchy, and control, to be inferior to narratives of self-direction and freedom.

Self-directed
“Freedom” is a heavy word. Self-directed is more accurate because you can’t force someone to be self-directed or they aren’t. Freedom must come out of yourself, and we must continue to choose it.

Equal
Since we are bound by idealism, anyone who shows those ideals can be an American. We do not assert that any group is ‘more equal’ or special.

Open
“Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

United
Since we assert liberty and justice for all. We must strive to create a system that is for all people, all the time. We cannot be reduced to turn-based identity politics.

Plural
We realize that there are many stories that weave the fabric of our society and we accept a multitude of ideas and expressions, yet we critique each narrative up to our values of equality and justice.

Social
Happiness is a human emotion. The purpose of this country is to create an environment of freedom where people can pursue happiness. Not corporations nor kingdoms.
